With nearly 36,000 acres of water, 148 miles of shoreline, 16 boat ramps,49 areas for primitive and 311 Class A camping 6 public beaches and 5 playgrounds, Grenada Lake is perfect for camping, fishing, swimming, boating and jet‑skiing, basketball courts, softball fields, nature trails and playgrounds offer year 'round fun at Grenada Lake. Hugh White State Park is located nearby with cabins, campground, and other facilities, such as a lodge and a pool. Grenada Lake is the perfect spot for family fun or as a week-end get-away or as a hunter's haven. Sportsmen should contact the Grenada Tourism Commission for hunting and fishing regulations.
Families and outdoor enthusiasts will certainly enjoy Grenada and all it has to offer from Grenada Lake to the Lofton Archery Classic and the National Fox Hunt. With nearly 36,000 acres of recreation surface water and 148 miles of shoreline in the summer, Grenada Lake is the largest body of water in Mississippi. Boasting 16 boat landings, six public beaches and camping areas for primitive and Class A camping, the area is perfect for swimming, jet-skiing, boating and bass and crappie fishing. Six basketball courts, lighted tennis courts, softball fields, fitness trails, nature/hiking/bird watching trails and children's playgrounds round out the Grenada Lake Project which is operated, maintained and managed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District. The 90,000-acre multiple use project is managed for flood control, public recreation, conservation of fish and wildlife and the proper stewardship of public forests. Formed in 1954 for flood control in the Yazoo River Basin, Grenada Dam protects 1,209,000 acres against flooding each year. The dam is earth filled and measures 2.6 miles in length.
